A special cover with cancellation was proposed by the society at Mathura to commemorate Shri Krishna Janmashthami on 24th August 2024 (ahead of Janmashtami) was released by Shri. Vijendra Kumar, SSPOs Mathura Division alongwith Shri. Ram Bahadur, Dy. SPO Mathura Dn. Shri. Pramod Kumar Bansal, the President of the Society represented the society on the dias.
Speaking on the occasion Shri. Vijendra Kumar said that it was a matter of pleasure that the Department of Posts at Mathura has released a special cover to commemorate the auspicious celebrations of Shri Krishna Janmashtami. The city of Mathura comes live during this week and the aura turns festive. People celebrate the joy of the birth of Lord Krishna and we are happy to have released the special cover to add more festivity and happiness. He said that this cover would reach out to far and wide who collect philatelic articles for their collection. This is the first time that a special cover has been released on Lord Krishna from Mathura and we hope to see more such philatelic releases in the future.
The release function began with the welcome of the dignitaries on the dias by the members of the society. After the release of the special cover, they were presented by mementos to thank for their support and assistance due to which the special cover was released successfully.
Shri. Ashok Mital, member of the society and Rahul Ganguli, Secretary of the society were also present while the cover was released.
