Deepotsav-Ayodhya on 30.10.2024 at Ayodhya HPO
The city of Ayodhya comes alive during the Divya Deepotsav when thousands of lamps lit on the banks of Saryu illuminate the entire environment with their radiance. The tableau of the characters of Lord Rama, Mata Sita and Laxman in the world famous Ramleela staged on this occasion fills the hearts of common people with reverence. The banks of the Saryu river, illuminated with thousands of lamps of faith and belief, once again become witnesses to the historic and cultural celebration of the return of their idol to Ayodhya.
A special cover and cancellation was released on the auspicious occasion of Divya Deepotsav-Ayodhya on 30.10.2024 at Ayodhya Head Post Office. The cover was released by the chief guest Col Vinod Kumar, Postmaster General, Varanasi Region alongwith Shri. H. S. Yadav, Supdt. of Post Offices, Ayodhya Division and Shri. Pramod Kumar Bansal, President of Prayag Philatelic Society. Shri. Satyendra Pratap Singh, Chief Marketing Officer, Shri. Ashok Mital member of the society and Rahul Ganguli, Secretary of the society were also present with the dignitaries.
The cover and cancellation was proposed by Prayag Philatelic Society which was considered favorably by the Department of Posts. The cover and cancellation was designed by a member of the society, Shri. Sumanto Kumar.
The function began by welcoming the guests on the dias with flowers by the members of the society. The chief guest, Col Vinod Kumar PMG Varanasi region in his address said that the cover issued a day before Diwali – the festival of lights. The postmark which depicts diyas and light. He emphasized the importance of prakash through education and knowledge in everyone’s life. For a student, knowledge is prakash which acts as a guide in different phases of life to grow and enhance ones personality and in profession. He mentioned that we should recognize this light and with the help of it advance in our lives.
The SPO Shri. H.S. Yadav said that this year the festival of Deepotsav was special as it was celebrated with the presence of Lord Ram after 500 years at Ayodhya. The cover will reach out to the philatelists and tourists within and outside India. This cover will promote the rich culture of Indian Festival of Light. He said that the cover will be available through the HPO Ayodhya and through ePost Office, New Delhi.
The society in its journey to release special covers and postmarks on the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Uttar Pradesh released this cover from Ayodhya to promote the rich cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh. In the past few years, it has issued philatelic articles on Ghats of Varanasi, Ganga Aarti at Prayagraj, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Shri Krishna Janmasthmi and Ram Navami.
The event came to an end with the vote of thanks by Shri. H. S. Yadav SPO Ayodhya Division and the National Anthem.
